Work in progress: A Set of Bones

Bones for Zev

I’m currently working on a set of bones. It has been a really long time, but it’s going well so far. I’m almost done. Here’s a photo of the basic set. Now I just need to ask him if there are any additions he’d like.

After a bit of training, our ile will officially have a new bone reader. He’s already pretty good at runes and curios, and he’s also observant to all the Orishas represented in the set, so this should be fairly easy for him.

It is a bit of a mind maze at first though because they are little fetishes and have to be cared for kind of like a body of many detached parts. It hearkens a bit to how the actual physical body works, with each part relating to various Orisha, but with a set of bones it’s more literal. It’s a bit difficult to articulate, but if you have a set of bones or curios, dice, or dominoes, you know what I mean.

I think my relationship with my bones helped my relationship with my tarot decks as well. Not sure why my mind made that jump easier with tiles than with cards. Maybe it’s the eyesight thing.

Anyway, while I was out getting more clay, I got some extra, so I may make more sets. If you’ve been thinking of getting one, I don’t do custom orders right now because I can’t guarantee the timing. However, once I make a basic set, I’ll post it and if you buy it you can request a few additions.
