Offerings to Yemaya and Nkisi Dip August 15, 2012

Today a friend of mine whose head Orisha is Oshun and I went to the Mediterranean Sea to give offerings to Yemaya.  Very interesting things happened…very good things.

We got ourselves settled, laid the flowers in what seemed a safe place, along with some things we brought to ask Yemaya to bless.  For some reason, I asked my friend to hold the boxes with the minkisi while he took the photos.  Thinking things were “business as usual”, we began as always by making the call to Eshu in the manifestation of Exu Mare.  From the level of energy during the consecrations, I should have known it was not quite going to be a normal offering ceremony.

No sooner than we finished the third and final call to Eshu, to which I added, “I love you…” well…I don’t know exactly how to describe it, but the sea rose up and took all of the flowers except those in my hands.  So I threw those flowers in *knowing* that if I did not, the sea would rise to take them, and maybe me too because I saw a wave in the not so far distance growing a little too high.  After I threw in the flowers, thanking Eshu and Yemaya, it reduced somehow.

So Eshu had some fun with us, making us jump around like excited schoolgirls, and Yemaya was very impatient to get her offerings and took them with no formality but an open gate.

All that needs forgiving will be forgiven, and the gates of love are open.

Blessings and Ase!
